Reluctant Obedience

February 2 - February 23, 2020

Obedience is not a short road or a one-time decision. Eugene Peterson described obedience to Jesus as “a long walk in the same direction.” The Bible is full of people the Lord used mightily who were also disobedient or reluctant to obey. It is easy to imagine that many of these “heroes” of the Bible would be judged as unqualified for spiritual leadership in our churches today. In our own lives we can far too often have a short view of our walk with Christ and find ourselves discouraged or shamed from a moment or minute of disobedience. In our February series, Reluctant Obedience, we will look at four people from the Old Testament who will help show us what our obedience to God could look like, in spite of ourselves and our reluctance.
