About the Author
Dr. Mathew P. John
Dr. Mathew P. John, a self-described global citizen, began his journey as an electrical engineer in India, advanced to a corporate career in Kuwait, and later transitioned from “technology to theology” in Canada. He holds a Master’s degree in Theological Studies from the University of Toronto and a PhD in Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary in California. His award-winning dissertation, which received the prestigious Alan Tippet Award, uniquely integrated Anthropology, World Religions, and World Cinema into a trialogue.
Since 2022, Mathew has served as senior pastor at Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena, earning a reputation for his insightful sermons on a wide range of topics. With more than two decades of experience across academic, corporate, and ecclesiastical platforms, he brings fresh perspectives on familiar biblical passages and explores subjects rarely addressed from the pulpit. Committed to harnessing individuals’ unique talents — whether in science, film, the arts, or writing — in service to the Lord, Mathew’s vision inspired the creation of P2P.
He is the Founder/Director of Focus Infinity, an intercultural outreach organization, and the creator of The Mosaic Course, which examines world religions from a Christian perspective. His book The Unknown God, complements the course. The Beatitudes: Blessings of the Kingdom is Mathew's first book published under the P2P imprint.
