The Shepherd of Student Ministries supports Lake Avenue Church's mission and vision by assisting the Director of Next Gen Ministries and providing leadership to students, their families, and the volunteer ministry team in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and principles of Lake Avenue Church Ministry Plan.

We are looking for someone who is first faithful to the Gospel and is spiritually passionate. This position requires a highly organized, relationally engaging, and motivated individual. We seek someone to lead out of their passion for creative, relational, and welcoming ministry. With our congregation, it is critical to lead across spiritually, ethnically, socio-economically, and culturally diverse groups. Essential to this position are the following:

  • The Shepherd of Student Ministries reports to the Director of Next Gen Ministries alongside a team of staff and volunteers who assist in ministries.
  • Be people oriented, exhibiting genuine care for others maintaining consistent and healthy relationships with students’ families.
  • Exhibit a ‘can do’ attitude and approach to other staff members, supervisors, and individuals you meet, when receiving daily tasks, taking on an area of responsibility, handling projects, and/or negotiating the challenges often associated with each of these items.
  • Have the flexibility to ‘shift gears’ several times throughout the day, handling a variety of details, still maintaining focus and diligence toward task completion.
  • Handle phone calls and emails in a personable and caring manner, with genuine concern and interest for each person’s requests and/or needs. Facilitating resolution, if possible, on matters as they occur.
  • Adhere to all internal LAC processes and policies, which is an integral part of the performance expectations associated with every staff position.
  • Attend Worship services, special ministry events, and participate in staff functions and meetings.

Qualifications include:

  • Exemplary life of wholehearted devotion to Jesus Christ.
  • Have a passion for discipling students and those who will lead them.
  • Experience and ability to recruit and train/equip volunteer and paid staff to reach students effectively.
  • With a pastoral heart, demonstrate a commitment to relational ministry and discipleship through a ministry of small groups, large groups, personal disciplines, and mentoring.
  • Strong understanding of theology, the capacity to communicate practical teaching from the Word of God, and the ability to introduce and disciple students in Christ-centered faith.
  • Experience with helping students discover and use their spiritual gifts.
  • Creative thinker and ministry planner with the ability to create spaces for students to hear and respond to the gospel, develop healthy relationships, grow in understanding of the Word, and adopt them into the larger church body.

The Facilities Manager supports Lake Avenue Church's mission and vision by learning and eventually overseeing campus equipment and facilities maintenance. This role includes managing routine maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with inspection and safety regulations required by law, life safety, and supporting other aspects of plant operations and campus services. They will initially focus on understanding specific areas of LAC’s facilities to independently execute tasks as directed by the Director of Operations & Campus Services with minimal supervision.

We are looking for someone with a character growing in Christlikeness with spiritual gifts of servant leadership, administration, decision making, facilities stewardship, and a shepherd. (Romans 12:6-8; 1 Peter 4:10-11; 1 Cor 12:4-11; Eph 4:11-16). This position requires the capacity to work with and lead people with a wide range of gifts, strengths, personalities, and passions. We are seeking someone with the capacity to develop and implement effective, innovative, and relevant facilities and operations ministry, similar to the Priesthood of the Tribe of Levi (Numbers 4, 8:13, 10:17-21). With our congregation, it is critical to lead across spiritually, ethnically, socio-economically, and culturally diverse groups.

Essential duties to this position include the following:

  • Oversee the continuous process of service required to maintain LAC’s facility and its campus. These services include daily cleaning, routine maintenance including campus grounds and landscape, preventive and approved deferred maintenance of major facilities systems such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, fire sprinklers and backflow devices, and other areas needing repairs.
  • Oversee, identify, and implement energy efficiencies within LAC facilities. Examples include lighting energy and water usage.
  • Keep in touch with current trends relating to LAC's facilities' plant operations, maintenance, compliance, and regulatory requirements. Dialogue with ministry counterparts at other churches regularly. Attend enrichment venues (seminars/conferences) that relate to facilities management
  • Maintain all audit records and files related to the maintenance upgrades, regularly scheduled inspections, compliance certifications and other pertinent records documenting maintenance, both regularly scheduled and emergency actions.
  • Provide administrative support for the Director of Operations & Campus Services.
  • There is no expectation that one would just come in and manage what is happening. However, we expect the Facilities Manager to provide vision and direction for engagement and growth that integrates with our ministry mission and values.

Qualifications include:

  • With a commitment to Lake Avenue Church's mission and vision, the candidate must wholeheartedly agree with the ten articles of the Lake Avenue Church Statement of Faith and the church’s positions on gender, human sexuality, and marriage.
  • Have an engineering, facility operations and/or maintenance, and/or construction/skilled trade background with a minimum of 7 years of experience.
  • Experienced with contract management and working with different engineering and construction disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, fire department regulations, OSHA, and American Disability Compliance. Preference for knowledge based on Los Angeles County and Pasadena laws and regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field, and demonstrated understanding of facilities operations and maintenance. Professional and/or skilled trade certification preferred. HVAC, electrical or plumbing certification is highly desirable.

The Early Childhood Ministry Assistant supports Lake Avenue Church's mission and vision by assisting the Director of Young Families and Children’s Ministry in delivering programs and ministry for Early Childhood aged children (infants through kindergarten) by providing leadership and direction to the children, their families, and volunteers in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and principles of Lake Avenue Church Ministry Plan. The Early Childhood Ministry Assistant will work with staff and volunteers to help foster a vibrant, welcoming children’s ministries community.

We seek someone to lead out of their passion for creative, relational, and welcoming ministry. With our congregation, it is critical to lead across spiritually, ethnically, socio-economically, and culturally diverse groups. Essential to this position are the following:

  • The Early Childhood Ministry Assistant reports to the Director of Young Families and Children’s Ministry alongside a team of coordinators and volunteers who assist in ministries from birth through 5th grade.

  • Exhibit a ‘can do’ attitude - Ability to maintain productive and positive communication with other staff members, supervisors, community partners, and individuals you come in contact with, when receiving daily tasks, taking on an area of responsibility, handling projects, and/or negotiating the challenges often associated with each of these items.
  • Be a proactive self-starter - adopting a creative approach to completing and solving assignments. This may include researching or learning a new way of accomplishing the task, but doing so with self- motivation.

The Nursery Caregiver supports Lake Avenue Church's mission and vision by providing leadership for the nursery program during special events and the worship services. Caregivers greet parents and children; oversee physical needs and safety for babies and toddlers. The Nursery Caregiver will work with staff and volunteers to help foster a vibrant, welcoming children’s ministries community.

We seek someone to lead out of their passion for creative, relational, and welcoming ministry. With our congregation, it is critical to lead across spiritually, ethnically, socio-economically, and culturally diverse groups. Essential to this position are the following:

  • The Nursery Caregiver reports to the Director of Young Families and Children’s Ministry. They work alongside a team of coordinators and volunteers who assist in ministries from birth through 5th grade.
  • Oversee administrative details of the Nursery area of Early Childhood Ministries (i.e. cleaning, toy upkeep, supply inventory, labeling children’s supplies, keeping track of food allergies when children are fed and changed, etc.)
  • Be respectful of children and parents
  • Cooperate with the volunteer staff and build relationships with them
  • Bring enthusiasm to the team and help others in their development as teachers
  • Look to develop oneself in the process of working on the team
  • Ensure equipment and facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures
  • Previous experience with and passion for working with young families and children is preferred
