Some say it takes a village. Well, in the case of Perspectives @ Lake Avenue Church it takes a team. Lake Avenue Church has hosted the Perspectives class for more than 20 years. The class is coordinated by a team of volunteers we lovingly call the “Cracked Team.”

I took Perspectives with a bit of hesitancy, as I’d been doing missions for several years by that point, and thought I already knew what God’s purpose was and why I would serve Him. Through the weeks though, God kept challenging me and opening my heart, and I finished marvelling at how hopeful and excited I was.. Now I want to help others in that process by serving them and the team.

Perspectives came up on my computer while doing some independent research on Missionary care and support. Then I saw a print ad. The a friend mentioned it. Then another. And another. God put it on my heart to go, and only after taking the class did I understand why I needed to be there. I am so glad that I did! Having the oppurtunity to serve on the Crack’d team this year while my husband takes the course is huge blessing!

I took Perspectives in 2000 and then again in 2006 because my best friend asked me to carpool with him. What I thought was a favor for a friend ended up being a clarifying of call for me. I learned that God had equipped me as a mobilizer and I was able to assit my friend to get to Paraguay… where he is now a missionary. Perspectives is life-changing …a place where God is moving…so I’m joining in.
